A lifetime of baseball excellence and family legacy is taking center stage in 2026, as Matt Raleigh is set to be inducted into the Vermont Sports Hall of Fame—a fitting honor for one of the state’s most accomplished athletes.

Raleigh, a Swanton native and Missisquoi Valley Union standout, built a storied career defined by power, versatility, and consistency. At Western Carolina University, he became a record-setting All-American, earning Southern Conference Player of the Year honors in 1992 while rewriting the program’s record books in hits, home runs, and RBIs. His impact extended beyond college, with a decade-long professional playing career followed by influential coaching roles, including helping develop future MLB stars and earning a World Series ring as a hitting instructor in 2003.

The induction ceremony, scheduled for April 25, 2026, celebrates not just Raleigh’s statistics, but his enduring influence on the game—from Vermont diamonds to professional baseball pipelines.

At the same time, the Raleigh family story continues to resonate with a new generation. Beginning April 12, 2026, a limited-release screening of Home of Raleigh will debut on YouTube, offering an intimate look at the family’s baseball roots. The film features Cal Raleigh, the Seattle Mariners star catcher and one of MLB’s most dominant power hitters, whose record-breaking 2025 season cemented his place among the game’s elite.

The release date carries deep emotional significance, marking the anniversary of the passing of Cal’s uncle, John Raleigh—a key figure in the family’s baseball journey. The documentary traces the intertwined paths of brothers Matt, John, and Todd, and how their shared passion for the game helped shape one of baseball’s most compelling family legacies.

Together, the Hall of Fame induction and the film’s release underscore a powerful narrative: a Vermont-born baseball lineage that has spanned generations, influenced the sport at multiple levels, and now reaches a national audience through both recognition and storytelling.

The Home of Raleigh is a 75 minute movie that traces the roots of Seattle Mariners' Gold & Platinum Glove winning catcher Cal Raleigh back to his father Todd's hometown of Swanton, Vermont. The film tells the story of the Raleigh family, who have faced incredible loss, worked hard, and seen astronomical success.

As one can imagine, there’s nearly a hundred hours of interviews, game film and behind the scenes footage that did not make the final cut. Fortunately for Aha Sports subscribers, additional footage - including never seen before interviews with Hall of Fame coach Jack Leggett - will be released in 2025.
